Can anybody help please? Otherhalf logged on to the web last night and all they got up was the above advising that the computer had ben blocked unless a fine was paid. We no it is a virus but how do we get rid? Any hep appreciated.

Needs to be scanned by another computer and malware scanned and a good anti virus put on your computer, been a few people had this one there is a similar one on the go with header from the FBI.

run combofix in safemode with networking from a penstick.

then run the kaspersky removal tool.

For reference it's a scam designed to scare people into paying a fine. If I recall the example I saw reference illegal pornography and possibly child porn as if the police are going to let people off with a fine in such situations.

go get the kasparsky removal tool

change its setting and scan EVERYTHING including pictures/music files.

turn on 'show file extensions' in folder options of windows explorer

look for .jpg.exe files or dot MP3.EXE files [doube extension]

and last but not let

NEVER EVER browse the internet using a windows logon that has ADMINISTRATOR rights!!

create a new user called ADMIN [with admin rights]

the using that accouts log-in

make everyone else standard users.
