Man alleged to have kicked terrier and thrown him against a wall

A 31-year-old Thurso man has been accused of mal-treating the dog he was responsible for.
Giles Humphries is alleged to have repeatedly kicked the Staffordshire terrier named Saffi, seized him by the collar and hitting it against the wall of a house in Campbell Street, Thurso, causing the animal unnecessary suffering.
The incident is said to have occurred on March 9. Humphries, of Park Avenue, Thurso, pleaded not guilty when he appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court today.
He was granted bail and will return to court for his trial on September 5.

Husband assault alleged

IN a separate case, a Dunnet woman has denied assaulting her husband. Dana Meiklejohn (39) appeared from custody and made no plea.
The charges allege that she punched and scratched Edward Meiklejohn and attempted to stab him with scissors and threw an ashgray and crockery at him.
Mrs Meiklejohn (39) is also accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner. The incident are alleged to have occurred at their home, on Saturday. She was bailed to an address in Meiklejohn Court, Thurso, and will reappear in court tomorrow when she is expected to tender a plea.
