Council given £105 million package for improvements
LEADER of Highland Council, Councillor Drew Hendry, has welcomed further good news from the Scottish Government on investments to boost the Highland economy (http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Releases/2012/06/growth270612).
He was speaking in response to an announcement today (Wednesday) by Scottish Finance Secretary John Swinney of a £105 million package of economic stimulus which includes an investment of £6 million at the new Inverness Campus of the University of the Highlands and Islands.
He said: “The commitment to the Inverness Campus is particularly welcome as the project is key to the economic growth of the Highlands. Coming on the back of investment announcements about superfast broadband in rural and remote parts of the Highlands and the two-year acceleration of plans to upgrade the A9 to 2015, this gives us a springboard to boost our economy. This has been a great week for the Highlands.”
