Having recently been over to Skye and Lochalsh if any one else is thinking to visit, make sure you have heavy duty tyres a 4X4 and a set of crampons, climbing ropes and boots.
YES, the potholes are that deep, in places even on the A roads the surface is non existent and whatever you do, don't venture onto some of the unclassified roads they would make any gravel heap blush with embarrassment and any self respecting quarry cringe.
So if you think the roads here are bad, spare a thought for them out west.

P.S. Take your own cushions the shops in Portree have sold out.

Computer malfunction with last attempt.Have to agree with LIZZ.Recently went across on the Malliag ferry and the road from Armadale to the Skye Bridge was really bad in places.Much worse than up here.

We were over there at Easter, and found the roads to be OK. Yes, there were some bad patches, but on the whole, no worse than anywhere else!
