Sheriff warns accused he will have to "watch his step"
A YOUNG man, who brandished a knife at two fellow guests at a party in Wick, was jailed for 328 days at the town’s sheriff court today.
Richard Donn, described as a prisoner at Inverness Prison, admitted a reduced charge of assault and a number of previous convictions.
The 24-year-old was said to have “upped the anti” following a disagreement with the two guests, Christopher Mallan and Kevin Anderson, and escalated the situation by going to the kitchen and returning with a knife. The early morning incident happened at a house in Saltoun Street, Wick on Feb 4.
Sheriff Andrew Berry, who observed that Donn had a record of violence, warned him that if he didn’t mend his ways he would “endlessly”find himself serving longer periods of imprisonment.
The current prison term will be backdated to February 6 when the accused was arrested.
