Big Band bash will raise the roof at the Legion

“In the Mood” for letting your hair down tomorrow night?
The Caithness Big Band is inviting you to take the floor to the famous Glenn Miller hit and other classic numbers at the Legion Club in Thurso.
You can kill two birds with the one stone – have a great time and raise funds for a worthy cause.
The Big Band is giving their services to help boost the fund launched by Becky Wymer, who will travel to Kenya later this year, along with a group of her fellow students at Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University, to tutor residents in the community of Kisii, in basic first aid from available resources. The trip is being organised through First Aid Africa, a UK charity.
Each of the students has to raise £1,500 to cover their expenses and currently Becky, whose home is in Mey is only a little over a third of the way there. Her dad, Andy Wymer, plays double bass with the Big Band and his colleagues and himself volunteered to give her a helping hand.
It’s hoped that the proceeds from the admission charge and a raffle will take Becky’s fund over the £1000 mark.
If you can’t make the band bash but would like to add to that figure, you can do so, online, through Becky’s slot on bmycharity.com and under the heading, Find a Friend, enter beckysafricatrip
