Parents and carers can play a part through online survey

ANYONE with responsibility for raising a 0-16 year old in the Highlands will have the opportunity to help shape the way that parent support services are developed in the region.
Parents/carers are being invited to complete a short online survey that can be accessed from a link on The Highland Council and NHS Highland websites or directly at www.surveymonkey.com/s/highlandparent (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/highlandparent).
Julia Nelson, early years health development officer, The Highland Council, said: “The survey has six short questions designed to find out about people’s experiences of raising children. As part of developing our framework for supporting parents, it’s important to build on people’s experiences and we hope to get a large sample of responses from all areas. It’s simple and quick to complete by clicking on multiple choice answers. Parents can add extra comments if they wish.
Questions include: “What do you enjoy most about being a parent/carer? and "Have you ever needed help as a parent/carer but not known how to get it?” In parallel, a series of short focus groups is taking place across the area this month, to enable parents and carers to share their views. The results of the survey and the feedback from the groups will be analysed and a summary of the findings will be available by the end of June on the council website.”
The parent support framework is part of the newly-established integrated health and social care service in Highland and will set out the types of information, advice and help that can benefit parents and carers.
