A POLICEMAN, investigating a fight, ended up being assaulted himself, by one of the two men involved.

On arrival at the scene, The Shore, Wick, the observed two men engaged “in some sort of conflict”.
Senior fiscal depute, David Barclay said that the police couldn’t tell who had started the fight, and intended separating the pair. As soon as Constable Robertson stated he was a police officer Gunn “lashed out at him", inflicting a cut to his nose and a graze on his forehead.
Mr Barclay added that the other man involved in the fight, took the opportunity to "leave the scene".
The court was told that Gunn (17) had breached a good behaviour bond in connection with an unrelated offence for which he was due to reappear in court on May 25.
Sheriff Andrew Berry deferred sentence on the latest case until June 6, for reports.

TWO accused of serious assaults and drugs possession

TWO Thurso men are facing a series of charges, including two serious assaults, possession of drugs and a theft.

Supply of drug wasn’t commercial

A Wick man who supplied a drug to a relative was given a chance by a sheriff today.
Mervyn Ahmed, of Burns Street, gave cannabis resin to the woman at his home on August 11, last year.
The court was told that it had not been a commercial transaction but a favour at “a social occasion”.
Ahmed also admitted supply, and being in possession of amphetamine.
Stressing the seriousness of supplying drugs, Sheriff Berry told Ahmed (29) that the supply of drugs was an offence that on many occasions, was remitted to the High Court for sentence.
The accused was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid community service and was warned of the consequences should he not comply with any of the requirements.
Ahmed was admonished on the amphetamines charde.
