On a child's easel 'whiteboard,' a wee lassie of my acquaintance wrote the following, unprompted, completely 'out of the blue.'

Quote:

In my life I've been jumping, snuggling, dancing and more.
I am 8 years old and my life is lots of fun.

I would post a picture of it, but have given up trying to achieve this on the org.
I suspect Gabriela will, unlike me, never give up.

P.S.: I had intended to add a question mark to the subject line.

Possibly not the best title considering:

The happy life is thought to be one of excellence; now an excellent life requires exertion, and does not consist in amusement. If Eudaimonia, or happiness, is activity in accordance with excellence, it is reasonable that it should be in accordance with the highest excellence; and this will be that of the best thing in us.

I'd take the 8 year old's approach any day. The trouble with us lot is that we grown-ups are suspicious of happiness. Kids aren't. We breed it out of them. Which of us are the stupid ones?

Some recent translations of eudaimonia have rendered it as human flourishing - something more than the simple pursuit of happiness - and something which can be pursued by all ages, including kids.

It's an excellent title and I reckon your eight year old has got it sussed.

I call it hedonism.
