Can you provide a clue to the canal riddle?
POLICE have appealed for assistance in solving a 70-year-old love story.
It was sparked by the discovery of a wooden writing case found floating in the canal at Dochgarroch, near Inverness, last December and handed into to Northern Constabulary’s Burnett Road police station.
Inside were letters are addressed to Miss S. R. Paterson, Bidston, Ross Avenue, Inverness, and are postmarked “Edinburgh, August 19, 1934". These were well preserved, despite having spent some time in the water.
Efforts by the constabulary’s found property staff to try to trace her family, have drawn a blank and now the police have issued a public appeal in a bid to solve the riddle.
