I can't hold out any longer.....

I need to create a new poll. It has to be a popular one. But it also has to be a contentious one. And a simple one.

Here we go...........

Which is better?

Wick?

or

Thurso?

And why?

Is that a question? Wick is better by miles, no TEA IN A BOWL over here :)

Is there a poll to vote on so that you can get some results?
When you say which one is better, in which way do you mean?
Better for shopping?
Better facilities?
Better views?
Better for access?
Better people?
I think you should elaborate :)

Wick is the best for shopping, you can get an abundant supply of every drug known to man on every street corner.

Blefescu or Mildendo eh?

Only a very large person could decide that one although I always use the little end.

Laputa is better so I refrain from choice.

If there was a worst place poll, I'm sure Lybster would be the winner.

Phill
18-Apr-12, 09:50
Lybster's not all that bad, full of inglish though! Dunbeath, now that is borderline Royston Vasey.

Wick has gotta win, a completed Tesco's and drugs in abundance (apparently).

Btw, good to see you back Crayola, it's been too long..:)Thanks for the welcome Jox. I might be back for some time due to cutbacks in NASA funding for my Mars mission. :( Caithness is a big change from Life On Mars. One consolation will be Johnston's pies. :)

John Little

Yes- given your antecedents I would imagine that you do tend to tower among your co-habitants.

A Little would probably be more at home in Lilliput but it was the propensity of Laputans to be educated but make no practical use of their knowledge that appealed to me.

I am attempting to remedy that situation however.

sorry but i have to say this poll is rubbish, no arguing here or yer all for the gallows,

I chose Thurso because that is where I spent my most memorable moments when I was stationed at the Naval Station.
Also, when I toured England & Scotland with my family they likewise preferred Thurso. We found the people to be quite friendly there.

I asked the same sort of question on here about 2 years ago. I got a warning from the mods as they thought I was stirring trouble.

Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Caithness, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. ?

Pulteneytown, which was developed on the south side of the river by the British Fisheries Society during the 19th century, was officially merged into the burgh in 1902. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wick,_Highland#Pulteneytown)

How can I get a warning for stating a fact?

riggerboy
18-Apr-12, 18:18
Is that not Wick?

NO I BLOODY IS NOT, its a beautiful small fishing village on the outskirts of the hell hole that’s is wick,

Now i don’t care what you say or when the merger was supposed to happen, what the sign says or the post code nor the dialling code, nor any other flipping thing,

But wick is wick and pulteney is pulteney, that’s the end of it,

There is a great divide between the two towns in the eyes of every Poultney man woman or child,

Now shhhh
Or to the gallows you will be brought

Rebellious Orgers, enemies to peace,
On pain of infraction, from those bloody hands
Throw your mistempered posts to the ground,
And hear the sentence of your moved Mod.
These civil brawls, bred of an airy word,
By thee, old Wick and Thurso,
Have sometime disturbed the quiet of our forum.
If you ever disturb our threads again,
Your lives shall pay the forfeit of the peace.
Once more, on pain of Riggerboy, all men depart.

The result of the poll is that Thurso is better than Wick. Is this generally accepted or does it reflect the bias in the membership of the Org?

joxville
20-Apr-12, 21:58
I think the .Org may be the internet's equivalent of Man. United...most of it's supporters don't actually live there. [lol]

Perhaps a breakdown of the criteria which were used in making the comparison might be useful at this point?

Does size, for example, matter?

Remember "the lesser of two weevils"....

That and a load of sockpuppet accounts so there was probably only 2 real votes for Thirsa.

The result of the poll isn't unanimous but it doesn't dissuade me from trialling CSSW in Thurso. Thank you for voting everyone.
