Dunnet Forestry Trust Needs Strippers!

We are building a Woodland Shelter in Dunnet Forest and need 60 logs from our Sitka Spruce trees stripped of their bark.

Volunteers would be welcome next weekend, 21st & 22nd April to help with the bark peeling, starting at 10am. We have a few 'peeling knives' but have found that small garden spades or lawn edgers with a sharpened edge work well, please bring one with you if possible.

As we work with sharpened tools and large lengths of timber, this work is not suitable for children. Please wear your oldest clothes as the sap from the bark does not wash out easily.

Anyone willing and able to 'strip' for an hour or two, please phone Nettie (you can leave a message) on 01847 851965 or 07753 613736 or leave details of when you are able to help at pippannette@macace.net

I'm stripping for Nettie this weekend. I thought she would have looked more pleased.
I reckon a sharpened garden hoe would be a good tool.
Find out on Saturday.

I wonder if the other 377 viewers got all excited then deflated when they realised this post wasn't what they were hoping for lol?

Have you any photos Nettie, not your high class ones for the Camera thread, just something to show us what you are talking about "stripping". I think I might have been confused and perhaps might have another appointment on Saturday.

For any potential 'strippers'! - we will be working along the main path from the Industrial entrance of the forest, just past the 'totem pole' crossroad.

We will be there from 10am, light refreshments will be provided.

Please bring a sharpened border spade or lawn edger if you have one available and wear old clothes as the sap from he trees is sticky and not easily washed out.

:D Dunnet Forestry Trust would like to thank everyone who turned up for "stripping" today! :D

Due to the great response today there are only a couple of felled trees left to strip so we will NOT be 'stripping' tomorrow (Sunday) as planned.

Once we have more trees felled and in position to be debarked we will organise another 'volunteer' weekend in May and hope you will be able to offer an hour or two again.

Many Thanks :D
