Beware of bogus telephone cop
POLICE are highlighting a telephone scam which is currently operating in the Highlands and Islands, particularly in the Caithness area.
A man using the name PC Morrison, purporting to be from North Police has been contacting local businesses inviting them to pay for advertising space in an emergency services magazine. He has been asking for bank/credit card details and gets very aggressive and abusive if he is declined.
There are legitimate companies which offer this service, but be aware that bona-fide companies never ask for cash up front.
Any company who does ask for cash up front should be avoided.
