Nope, but MrBurd did a wonderful Tomato, Chilli & Lentil soup tonight, it was super tasty, but definitely NOT something my Granny would have made!!

I love this one.
1 onion
Lentils (washed) about half a packet, I just guess
1 carrot
either a ham stock cube or a ham shank (lovely)

gently fry the onion and chopped carrot, add lentils and water and it is 10 minutes in a pressure cooker or maybe 30 mins normal cooking. If you use the ham shank it will need about an hour or so.
Keep stirring to stop it sticking to the bottom!
It is nice belnded with a hand blender.

Here's mine, strictly speaking its bacon and lentil but it seems to go down well with my family.

1 kg dried split red lentils
1 kg onions
1 kg carrots
250g smoked streaky bacon
500g potatoes
6 cloves garlic
4 heaped teaspoons medium curry powder
1 heaped teaspoon cumin
2 heaped teaspoons paprika
4 chicken stock cubes
Bunch of fresh coriander leaves
Decent splash of olive oil

Chop all veg and bacon roughly gently fry in oil for a couple of minutes with the spices in a large stock pot then put the lid on a allow to "sweat" for 10 minutes. Add 4 litres of water and stock cubes, bring to the boil, add the lentils and cook for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and stir in your chopped coriander leaves, allow to cool for a couple of hours then blend to a puree.

This will freeze very well or can be stored in the fridge for a few days in plastic tubs.

These quantities give a good thick soup and is really nice served with a few drops of chilli sauce and a spoon of soured cream.

Half a bag of lentils
Half a bag of split peas
4 medium carrots
1 large leek
1 large onion
Nice bit of ham.
Salt and pepper to season

Chop the carrots leeks and onion and fire it in the pan with ham, washed lentils and split peas. Bring to the boil and then simmer for an hour . Take the ham out and set aside. Blitz the soup in a blender(optional). Shred the ham and put it back into the soup. Serve with big chunks of crusty bread.. Yummy

Here is my "lentil soup for dummies" (or those in rush), because I am often both of these things!!

I large onion
Tescos pre-diced carrots and neeps
1 Pack of Smoked Bacon (use scissors to chop straight into the pan - teehee)
3 or 4 handfuls of lentils
(2 handfuls of barley - if you like barley)
Salt

Throw it all in a pan with a whole kettleful of water.
Boil until soft and squidgy
Blend
Eat
Bag the leftovers
Freeze

LIDL LENTIL SOUP

1 bag lentils (washed)
1 bag onions ( sliced)
1 bag bacon bits ( trim fat off)
3 veggie oxo cubes ( not Lidls !!)

Cook lentils 30 mins in 3/4 big pan ( pressure cooker size) of water
add everything else.
ready when lentils dissolve.
EAT!!

Or add lots of tatties and a leek for super soup!
