How to Make a DVD

I've only got a few days to make a dvd it's for a special occasion so I need some quick hints and tips please!! All help is much grafefully received xxx xx x

A DVD from what material? Video footage? Photos? etc. If you have got video footage what format is it in? Have you the equipment to record it onto your computer? At the most basic level if you're using Windows then there's Windows Movie Maker which can be used to create the video from whatever footage, photos & music you have, adding transitions and effects etc. to make a passable (but certainly not professional) job which could be recorded to DVD.
