Just a thought but how about an area on the forum exclusively for discussing pets, ie lost cats, dogs. rehoming. behaviour issues, pictures funny stories etc so that it doesn't clutter general board and people don't complain about us discussing cats etc. Anybody other than me think it's a good idea? I know there are other specialised forums out there but they can be hard to get replies from and can be very cliquish and often if you have a problem you need advice there and then. Nothing worse than buying a guinea pig etc and you have a litter of 6 a week later and no idea what to do :)

I think this is a great idea!

At the moment I am afraid to put too many posts about cats in case someone complains!:(

It would be nice to discuss things with other animal lovers.

I also suggested sticky's to links for cat protection, balmore etc in my pm to Niall.

Very good idea - although it would mean that Liz would find it really difficult to move away from her PC, if there was a forum just about animals! :D

It can only be a good thing then :) I just feel there are so many animal lovers on here and we all feel like we cannot discuss them or any problems we may have for fear of reprisal every time someone takes the pet (excuse the pun)about a post being removed etc :(

great idea Unicorn, now I'll have another forum where I can gush all day long about my (huge) baby boy - give the other forums a chance to speak about their own doggies!

Niall has been very busy lately, the issue has been raised in the Mods section but it's not attracted too much attention yet.

There are reasons why we don't create specific sections, the General section is probably read by the vast majority of Users, what happens to posts about Missing animals? Not everyone will read a Pet specific forum but they would see a thread in the General section.

We could allow these to be in general and have a section for Pets but so far nearly all of the posts are for missing/lost/injured pets.

I'd suggest that you use general for all your posts and if we think that enough posts are generated over a period of time then we will consider creating a section for them.

but Colin that's the problem, people don't want to post in general as it always becomes a farce when pets are involved and it gets thrown about in every argument that all that's allowed to be talked about is lost cats. It makes people uncomfortable to bring it up.

Exactly right Unicorn!

I find caithness.org so handy for bringing people's attention to cats and kittens needing homes etc but am wary of doing this because of the minority who grumble about it!
So a dedicated Pet forum would be ideal. Pretty please?!!!

Thanks, Niall. Now we can all 'rabbit' on as much as we like, some may even 'purr' with delight. People will think we must be 'barking' mad! lol
