Development will have tourist-pulling power says Minister

SCOTTISH Tourism, Minsiter Fergus Ewing believes a new-look John O Groats can play an important role in regenerating the Far North economy and lessen its long reliance on Dounreay, reports the Press and Journal this morning.
Mr Ewing said the belated launch of efforts to redevelop the famous end-ot-the-road site could finally help it fully cash in on its international tourist-pulling power.
The minister was speaking after inspecting progress with a new 6 million upmarket self-catering complex. Merseyside-based Natural Retreats is on schedule to welcome the first visitors this summer.
The firm is converting the abandoned John O Groats House Hotel into 14 apartments and putting up 23 detached timber lodges on adjoining land.
