Staff lose jobs after investigation

A WICK law firm which has been at the centre of a financial investigation is being wound up, according to today’s Press and Journal.
The caseload of Highland Law Practice has been transferred to another practice in the town, Georgesons, while its office staff have lost their jobs.
The investigation was launched, after a spot check by the Law Society of Scotland’s compliance team raised concerns about accounting practices.
Solicitor Sylvia Maclennan has had her certificate re-issued and has been employed by Georgesons.
Highland Law Practice was founded in 2004 by the Ms Maclennan and her husband, Steven in 2004. It is believed that Mr Copinger’s certificate remains suspended.
