A welcome initiative says John Thurso

FAR NORTH MP John Thurso has backed a national campaign which is aiming to use the power of thousands of energy consumers to secure a market-leading deal from energy suppliers and make switching energy company easy.
The campaign is being run by consumer champion Which? in partnership with the online campaigning group 38 degrees. It aims to sign up as many people as possible who are interested in switching their supplier and then invite the big energy companies to put forward their lowest price. The deal will then be offered to everyone who has signed up. By using the power of collective bargaining they are hoping to secure a deal which is one of the very best available for consumers. People have until 31st of March to sign up to the campaign at: https://www.whichbigswitch.co.uk/. It is free and there is no obligation to switch.
Many local people have been in touch with John Thurso asking him to try and help raise awareness of the campaign. He has also signed a motion inParliament welcoming the initiative.
John Thurso said: “This is a really welcome initiative that aims to put power back in the hands of the consumer when it comes to dealing with the big energy companies. There is still a baffling array of tariffs out there. At the moment 60% of people have never switched energy supplier and 75% of people are on standard tariffs and often not getting the best price available. This campaign should make switching easy and has the potential to secure a market-leading deal.
The MP added: “The cost of energy is a huge concern for people here in the Far North and many people feel they get a raw deal from the big energy companies which always seem quick to raise their prices when the international markets change but are slow to lower them. I would encourage anyone here in the Far North who thinks they might not be getting the best deal at the moment to sign up before the 31stof March.”
