Awareness briefing sessions for election candidates and agents
Prospective candidates at the forthcoming Highland Council elections on 3 May 2012 and their agents are being invited to attend one of a series of 6 awareness briefing sessions being held by the Returning Officer, Alistair Dodds, Chief Executive of The Highland Council.
The election will be called on Tuesday 13 March and candidates have until 4 pm on Thursday 29 March to lodge their nominations.
Topics to be covered at the awareness sessions will be the nomination procedure, the election timetable, the issuing of poll cards, postal ballot packs, candidate’s spending limits, and what is involved in being a councillor.

Tuesday 28 February
12.00pm Council Chamber, Tigh na Sgire, Portree
Wednesday 29 February
6.00pm Council Chamber, HQ, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness
Friday 2 March
11.00am Council Chamber, Lochaber House, Fort William
Wednesday 7 March
1.00pm Mowat Room, Assembly Rooms, Wick
5.00pm Ben Mhor Assynt Room, Drummuie Council Offices, Golspie
Thursday 8 March
2.00pm Council Chamber, Council Offices, Dingwall
Polling will take place between 7.00am – 10.00pm on Thursday 3 May. The count will take place from 9.30am on Friday 4 May at Inverness Leisure, Bught Park, Inverness.
