Jellytastic! Vote For Caithness Horizons To Win The National Connect10 Museums at Night Competition

Caithness Horizons needs your help. A recent application to Culture24 (http://www.facebook.com/culture24)'s Connect10 competition to bring dedicated jellymonger heroes and contemporary artists Bompas & Parr (http://www.culture24.org.uk/places%20to%20go/museums%20at%20night/art372038) (www.jellymongers.co.uk (http://www.jellymongers.co.uk)) to Thurso has beaten off fierce competition from other museums and galleries throughout the UK to the final round and public vote!

The competition is now down to just Caithness Horizons, the SS Great Britain (http://www.culture24.org.uk/sw000008) in Bristol and Belgrave Hall Museum and Gardens (http://www.culture24.org.uk/em000069) in Leicester. In order to fly the flag for Caithness and the Highlands of Scotland we need the public’s help to enable us to get these amazing artists, who create spectacular culinary experiences ranging from architectural jellies to lakes of cocktails to build a replica of the sphere of the Dounreay Fast Reactor in jelly at the Museum during the weekend of the 18th to 20th May 2012.

Bompas & Parr were named by the Independent newspaper as “one of the 15 people who will define the future of arts in Britain”.

Have you got a down on anything/body Caithness - I remember you derided a book where the local author had done a lot of research and produced a book, all you could do was slag it because YOU consider one person in the well researched book 'a prat'.
Now you are stating you would be rather embarrassed to be associated with that pair

How many people are absolutely embarrassed to have anything to do with you and your extremely nasty comments - if you find the people in Caithness so objectional why do you not move away?

Thanks everyone for your votes so far! Last time we checked we were in the lead at 70% but still a long way to go as voting is open until 5th March!

We got a mention on the BBC website today too and you can see some images of the fabulous work that Bompas and Parr done elsewhere! :D

I'm afraid I'm not turned on by gelatinous Old Etonians with silver spoons in their mouths. Rather you than me.

Hi Folks, We have less than a week to go on the vote and we are currently in second place behind the SS Great Britain. We have 36% of the vote and they are on 49%...please, please give us 5 minutes of your time to go onto the website and vote! Let's get us showing them what Caithness is made of!

We've been doing lots of campaigning, gifts of jelly to the traders around town and there are loads of posters out. Added to this on Saturday we'll be doing a big final jelly push down in the precinct along with the Chambers Live Caithness Here Gig day where there will be lots of bands playing, we'll be there giving out jelly and hopefully persuading some of the kids (big kids and little kids) into a big game of musical statues!! We'll have lots of activities going on in the building!

So please, please vote for us! Would be great if one of the admins could make this a sticky at the top of the page and Bill we have emailed you an image to add to the Front Page of the Org! We'd love to see all the community supporting us as much as possible and a huge massive thank you to everyone who has voted so far!

The link to vote again is: http://www.culture24.org.uk/places%20to%20go/museums%20at%20night/connect10/art375208

Thank you!
Caithness Horizons!

Hi Horizons.
I have made this a sticky but I am not able to put the post on the front page until the weekend as I am away at the moment on council business.
Best of luck with the vote.

Commiserations to Brunel's SS Great Britain and the city of Bristol. I'm sorry for voting for you, but I couldn't bear the thought of that pair of gelatinous old Etonians polluting my county with their upper class twittery.
