If you need to make an official complaint about a school, who do you contact? Is it still the Care Commission, or has that changed now?

Thanks in advance for any info.

In the first instance you should really start the complaints procedure through the school, that will then get progressed through the School, Council, and on to the Care Inspectorate if needed. http://www.scswis.com/ If you are concerned about speaking to the school call the Care Inspectorate on 0845 600 9527 and ask to speak to an inspector, they'll advise on what to do.

The reason you need to follow the official procedure, regardless of what ever school management or teachers might tell you. Is that if you don't they can ignore you and don't have to respond to your complaint. Ideally get a copy of it and don't just take advice.

Edit: It may be worth having a quick read of http://www.highland.gov.uk/learninghere/supportforlearners/generalguidance/additional/

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to speak to the school in the morning, but will be taking it further if I can. Thanks again - much appreciated.
