I think for forestry commission forests you need to get a license for a small fee and I think it lasts for one year.

For other forests privately owned you would need individual permission from the owner.

Dito maggie. All forests are owned by someone and unlike some people think, just because its laying there does'nt mean it's free to take.

Unless you have permission, it's called stealing. You can get a foraging licence from the Forestry Commission, but there are no power tools allowed. Have a close look at that dead wood you saw and work out how long it would take you to cut it down, by hand, and haul it to the road.Over all those deep drainage ditches. That's why that wood is still there.

Maybe not but it should be....
People complain about dole scum leeching of the system, well this is a perfect example of why the system has a commitment to support the poor. They are not leeching they have no choice but to live like that, not even being able to collect wind fallen wood for heat/light/cooking because the land is "owned" by an individual & not the people as it should be just demonstrates this...
In fact all heating should be free because of this as should all water due to the "systems" pollution of ground water not to mention free food due to the inability in this system to be able to just feed yourself of the land without getting done for poaching.
