Hi i am due to get married on the 20th september, and i was just wondering if anyone would be able to decorate the hall in red and white things, and make a buffet for about 100 people in a budget off £200. please pm me if you can do this and if you have any idea's on which way you would decorate the hall and what buffets u would make. i will them decide which idea is better and then get in contact.

to be honest, to cater for such numbers for such little money (less than £2 per person)
you'll just have to keep buying sausage rolls, quiches, crisps etc when they are on offer between now and september, and freeze them until needed.
take a lot of freezer space though.
cold pasta dishes are also great for a cheap buffet as it can be made in bulk for little cost.
as for decorations, balloons will probably work out cheapest, maybe hellium filled (but thats more expense)
ask around as friends may have artificial flower display which may fit in colour scheme.
or even carnations from tesco's in wee vases (but that wont be that cheap either really)
ebay sell cheap rolls of coloured organsa you could swag around the room to add colour, think its 4.99 for 10m
if you could get hold of some kinda lighting, a coloured bulb would really change the mood of a room.

anyway, good luck and i hope you manage it!
and if theres any way you can save more for your budget, i'd do so!
i'm also getting married and busy with plans, so can feel your pain lol!

Tescos sells a helium canister that fills (they say 30 9 inch balloons)but we used smaller balloons as I used it for the kids parties and it did 3 parties and there is some left ...I think its about £30...And buy a couple packs red and cream/white balloons and a roll of ribbon and tie the balloons to a (clean) stone/pebble wrapped in shiny paper for the middle of the tables..
You would have to rope in people to do this on the day though as they sink/sag overnight.
Or start scouring the charity shops for glass vases or champagne flutes and buy a couple of bunches of spray carnations in your colours and if your budget allows some bigger carnations and babys breath from the florists with a wee bow of red ribbon round the vases?
Good luck with your plans.

And get everyone local who is going to bring a dish/food item to the reception if your budget cant be expanded...but speak to them all so you dont end up with 3 tons of sausage rolls and nothing else!

You can make your own vases for flower displays by decorating with paper or ribbon lemonade or juice bottles with the neck cut off. Just co-ordinate the decorations to the colour scheme.

I also saw a very attractive table decoration made from a gravy granules jar painted inside to match the colour scheme with contrasting supermarket flowers in. Looked lovely and very cheap.

£2 per head for a wedding buffet?
Wouldn't it be better to elope to Gretna and not have to worry about a reception?
You aint going to get a lot for £2 per head, crisps, sausage rolls and a few cheese rolls if you are lucky!!
I would skip the reception and just spend the night with your loved one!!

When my brother got married last year they asked on the invites if everyone could take a plate of food rather than gifts, they had the best wedding meal/buffet that I'd ever been to it was fab, plus most people took a gift too.

Or a chippy supper if you can stretch the budget a bit....bit of a twist, but, doesnt everyone have a fave chip supper ...if there is a good one close enough(that will do you a deal!
sarnies etc for later on ...
or soup and sarnies and the obligitary sausage roll.....cheap and easy to do!

i've been planning a cheap wedding (although my partner of 7 years hasn't actually asked me yet :( ) I was thinking of jam jars with either a tea light or twigs spray painted to your scheme although i like all the balloon ideas above. I want to have me wedding outside and was thinking of serving big pans of food like a stew, a curry and a veg option cos a good buffet actually works out really expensive and there is a lot of work in preparing it and as someone said above soup is probably the cheapest food you can make and everyone likes it. for pudding you can't go wrong with a big bowl of trifle. what about your drinks?

is there nowhere you could hire decorations from? and you might think this is ridiculous but what about red and white christmas decorations if you could do something artistic with them (i have lots of red baubles)
