has anyone else on the lyth exchange (01955 641) suffered a drop in download speeds from ~1.4Mpbs to ~400kbps?

http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/I know this is tangential to your query, but I think http://speedtest.net is better than broadbandspeedchecker for speed tests.

In my experience, Speedtest.net gives more consistent results - possibly because the test lasts longer, so latency and transients are less important. You can also choose different servers to perform your tests with. The latter may not be important for slow connections, but it's important for fast ones. For example, I recently found two servers in the same city that gave download speeds which differed by nearly 200Mbps!

Just checked mine - 2.4 or less Mbps for a year usually 1.8 -1.4. Now 5.8Mbps!!!!, I can complain when it goes back to the usual - Result!

If you are having problems why not contact your service provider, they may be able to help much better than anyone on here can.

To clarify my original post, I wasn't actually looking for help on the org, just to see if the problem was common across the whole Lyth exchange.

I did contact BT and the whole exchange had automatically gone to a slow speed as there was instability around the 18th January. This has now been reset and we are back up to normal ADSL service.

Did anyone but me actually notice? Thank you thank you!!!
