UKASH transaction could mean the last you see of your cash

NORTHERN Constabulary has alerted managers and staff of retail and garage service premises to be on their guard against a fraudulent UKASH scheme, which has been successfully executed using UKASH transactions via the Paypoint facilities around the Western Isles, Ross-shire and Inverness areas.
The Fraudster will contact the Paypoint vendor via telephone with knowledge of Paypoint unit serial numbers, purporting to be an Engineer requiring to change screen options on the UKASH facility. A series of figures will be passed by the fraudster to the vendor under the guise of being system codes, which are in fact monetary values. They may say they are providing an upgrade to their systems. A voucher will then be produced by the facility, if passed the voucher code will allow the fraudster successful access to the funds.
Northern Constabulary is seeking to inform and advise all business establishments of this scam and report any such occurrence direct 01463 705555 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
