Have a look at these photos for proper storm damage! My dog is inconsolable about the loss of her favourite walking route!

I doubt that the council will be willing to pay for a replacement.

I can't believe these pictures! Walking the dog round the mall used to be part of my daily routine before I moved down to Aberdeen a few months back.

They have to rebuild that bridge. Surely it wouldn't be that expensive?

What a shame, a lot of people will miss it, they had put a lot of good work in doind up that area too. I agree to rebuild is a must.

If it came down though, was it that safe anyway?

I can't believe it. Wow! I spent a lot of my childhood playing down the river. Sad to see the bridge go. Here's hoping the council build a new one.

Wow! I was shocked to see these pics. Just shows how bad the weather actually was!! Wasn't sure about the High School kids in the 2nd pic, couldnt believe they were able to get there to see the damage!!
Thanks for the pics!! Want to go down and see the damage for myself now!!

That is astounding and very sad. Many's the hour I spent wandering, playing and fishing there as a lad. I do hope the council rebuild it.

probably they would have got there by sliding down the "monkey run", know it wasn't my kids as they came home clean

Anybody else remember doing "cross country runs from the back of the High School for gym? Do they still do this?

Aye, they still make the kids do this. Mostly at the start of the school year - after the summer holidays before the weather gets too bad.

Always humorous seeing them walking back up the hill, soakin' wet, trachled and smoking their wee fags furiously before they get to the back gate.

I went down the river to have a closer glance at the cemetery bridge ruins so took a few more photographs for all to see:

And the rest:

When I went along with my dog, she saw a friend on the other side of the river so went flying up the ramp at full speed, turned to cross the bridge, them stopped just in time when she realised there was no bridge!
