Sutherlands say they won't be restarting the cheesemaking business

A CAITHNESS whose cheese-making plant was destroyed by fire, earlier this week, say there is no chance of them re-starting the business.
Sandy and Sandra Sutherland are now going to sell the 20 Friesian cows they reared on their croft adjoining the business at Occumster.
The herd was led to safety as the flames took hold of the factory and the couple could only look on helplessly as their hardearned enterprise went up in flames. Firefighters from Dunbeath and Wick were quickly on the scene but the blaze was too far gone to save the plant. As well as destroying the business, the fire claimed almost a year’s production earmarked for their Christmas orders.
The Sutherlands had built up an excellent reputation for their produce, since setting up in business in 1993. Their outlets included the House of Bruar, Glamis Castle, the Falls of Shin Visitor Centre and Brodie Countryfare.
