Perhaps I'm not right in claiming credit here but I seem to remember during the Gaelic debate I suggested reviving the Norse identity with a festival including the usual burning boats but also an across land boat portage between Wick and Thurso using both rivers. Now one of the things the Vikings loved to do was oar walking the object being to run right around your boat from extended oar to extended oar without falling in. Kirk Douglas might have done it in the movie the Vikings. At Douglas in the Isle of Mann they have the best viking museum exhibit ever. A long boat with three figures dragging it by ropes is half way out of the front window of the building. Inside the rest of the boat is in chaos with a jumble of booty and weapons and half dead warriors. Epic stuff!

Then there's writing in Ogam and the nordic love of riddles not to mention Yule celebrations and axe throwing instead of darts in the pub.
