Group hope coffee event will pay dividends

CAITHNESS Chest and Heart Support Group is hoping that its Christmas coffee morning at the Norseman Hotel, Wick tomorrow, will help boost its funds.
It’s been a busy year for the charity, particularly on the commercial front-purchasing equipment for the local surgeries and Caithness General Hospital.
Group vice-chairman and secretary, Noel Donaldson said: “Such items don’t come cheap but they are worthwhile, as they benefit whole sections of the community and in the case of the hospital, the entire community. For example, two ECG machines we provided this year, cost in the region of £5000 in total, so we need to keep replenishing our coffers. As always, all proceeds remain in the county."
He added: “We are fortunate in enjoying a high level of support from the general public both for the fundraising events it runs, particularly in the current, difficult economic climate and this was again reflected in the prizes donated for our grand draw to be made at the coffee morning. People were taking tickets and telling our sellers to keep the change."
The coffee morning, from 10am-12 noon, will also features baking and hand-made Christmas cards stalls, plus face-painting and musical entertainment.”
And, of course, that man of the moment, Santa Claus, will be present, with gifts for all the youngsters.
