I saw an American robin in my garden today. According to my Bird Guide they are a rare vagrant bird that visit only at this time of year.

I saw an American robin in my garden today. According to my Bird Guide they are a rare vagrant bird that visit only at this time of year.
how do you know it was an American robin ??
Because I got a good long view of it, in 30 years of being a keen birder I have never seen a bird like this before. I looked it up and it matched the description in my book.

It was about the size of a blackbird and the red breast was very bright red.

The easy way to tell is if you get close enough to listen to them they have an american accent

It was definitely an American robin because it was perched on Bush [lol] [lol]
