So let's hear it for those brave boys in blue, the Egyptian police, gallantly holding the line against the forces of unrest and disorder and revolutionary lefties.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/middle-east-live/2011/nov/22/tahrir-square-police-clash-protesters-live-coverage?newsfeed=true

Let's face it - these guys are a credit to their uniform. What they have to face in every day situations you cannot imagine.

They protect and serve, holding the line against hooligans, crooks and villains who would overthrow the existing order.

If you had to face stones and taunting and chanting and riotous thousands you'd react exactly in this way.

As for tear gas - why are they adopting the hands off approach? Tear gas has no real harmful effects. Get in there and shoot them lads- taser them and lock 'em up.

Gad it makes me proud! We're right behind you lads!

Imagine how life would be if police in the west acted in this fashion...

You cant blame them for rioting John, who wants to be governed by a military general? Why are the army holding onto power?
It reeks of Gaddaffi all over again to me, aren't they trying to get rid of all military dictators? Isn't this why thousands have lost their lives?
The police should join up with the protesters and kick the Army out of power and then have a fair election!!

The hypocrisy that we're fed, and that the mainstream media present, really stinks. Syria and Bahrain too.

Not that I'm condoning the Lybian action, just the hypocrisy of one and not the other.

I blame the teachers for kicking all this off.

If they had done their job properly and taught their charges to do exactly as they are told, especially by anyone wearing a uniform, then none of this outrageous behaviour would be happening.

This is a fine example of the sort of trouble you get when you teach people to think for themselves. If these lefty pinko creeps had been instructing the vulnerable minds in their charge that they should conform, behave and do as instructed, to respect their leaders and their betters, then a lot of trouble could have been stopped.

Do you think we should club together and buy our very own Sgt Pepper a plane ticket from Toronto to Cairo? He would have those nasty disrespectful hippies in Tahrir Square sorted out in a matter of minutes. All they need is a bit of respect served up with a dash of powdered Scotch Bonnet....

I wish the USA was not envolved in this mess. I read where the people in Iraq hate the USA for what they have done in their country. I read where the USA came to help them, but are now seen as the agressors for not getting out of their country. I believe it is impossible to win another country's war for that country or any country.

Oh yes - what an excellent idea- in fact we could send a squad of our own chaps headed up by Sgt Delroy Smellie of the Met. He'd have that square clear in short order I have no doubt. And as to their returning to the square afterwards - well I read this the other day and it seems an excellent procedure to avoid repeat offending;

"When I was outside the square I saw a friend of mine quite close to me. He leant over to a policeman who had his back to him and he tipped the policeman's helmet off.
He turned and ran. The policeman saw him so I stepped in front of him. I didn't hit him, but I must have obstructed him.
And he said, "Right, if I can't get him I'll get you."
I didn't realise the seriousness of it and he arrested me. He charged me with assault.
He took me to a bus with some other people and then on to - Police Station. I was held there overnight. If you're not experienced at this it can break you - you just want to say anything to get out.

We were told we were going to court the next morning. The police said if I pleaded "not guilty" I'd be found guilty and put in prison.
But if I pleaded "guilty" it would be my first offence, so I'd just be fined or given a suspended sentence.
As far as I was concerned I chose what was going to get me out of there.
I pleaded "guilty", but I'd seen no statement about what I'd done.

Prison
The magistrate asked the policeman to give an account of what I did and he told them that I'd grabbed him round the neck and punched him in the face several times. But there wasn't a mark on him.
I was shattered.
Next thing I knew I was down in a cell waiting, taken in a bus [to prison]"

LOL! There's no way that trendy lefty would go back into the square - or ever go to a demo again. Shows initiative that does - I hope the officer makes sergeant.

Oh but SiS - you really should not mention Toronto in connection with Police... :O

What a scandal that was!

"That hippy" proves that pepper spray is good for you - because he's the only surviving member of the three moral anarchists on the crossing!

Thanks for the provenance. It's a pity the American embassy wasn't armed with pepper spray in those days. There would then have been no need for the London bobbies to warn the hippies that the Americans would shoot them if they crossed the thin blue line and entered the embassy.

I'd better not address issue of the stooges - else I might get embroiled in the Toronto police corruption scandal....

The next one supposedly occurred in 2000. I was there ...in the Organization at that time..........Interesting that Jail was closed...and we don't use shacles!! The next was in the United States.....
One must remember that the only defence a Criminal has, is to make allegations against the Police.....I have read both of them and it is 'A' typical... You can dredge up lots of things, along with all the Pedophile School Teachers and Professors, with Porn on their work computers/ in fact this past week several were arrested for same!

The Office of the Crown Attorney, who prosecute said cases are totally set apart from the Police....Two seperate Ministries, and I can assure you that there is no love there.....to the contrary.. On the other hand 'people' make the occasional mistake.......
John Sewell was the Mayor....Was! Anyone can say anything they want. On a slow day the Media need a story...I always used my position to promote a Charity of the likes, rather than letting the Media do Negative stories....

FYI..The Police are on the front line and learn to take the brunt of all Societies ills! It's just the Criminals or the Criminally minded or people with shady backgtounds who hate the Law.....

No - I believe that it is a rather large urban area with a lot of crime. Of course when its force has such a rep they would need people with special talents to act as their spokespeople. They would need to appear diplomatic and informed, able to 'spin' a story, brush off what they wished to be irrelevant and act as apologists, defending the indefensible.

While we are on the subject of protesting students. The students that protested against the establishment in the 60s 70s 80s and 90s, grew up to be our bankers, business leaders, politicians and church hierarchy. So presumably, at some point, they changed their minds en mass.

This is the lacy outer layer (or ‘aril’) that covers the nutmeg, a nut-like seed of the nutmeg tree. Mace is sold either in blades or ground. It adds a mild nutmeg flavour to soups and sauces as well as sausages, pâtés and fish dishes.

Your all Olde!!!! Now lets get serious......
Intelligent comments, but then your all out of this conversation!Sandy; you must learn to calm down, I thought you were in a disciplined force?
So why on earth post the following - simply taken from a couple of your threads?
'Auld F..............s! '
'Intelligent comments, but then your all out of this conversation'
'For the un-informed'
'Not many Criminals like us....Kinda like you! '
'one of the Mousecateers!'
'part of the 'stooges'...Wowee! '
'You of that ILK can have a little Circle .........! '
'It's sad when the Three Stooges get together and gang up '
'You are posting your garbage'

You'll have to try not being so touchy, it's all light-hearted banter you know, and with your tales of mixing with gangsters and molls, "derringer's in their boots" and "Uzis,Sawed off shotguns,AK 47's in their Guitar Cases.. the Org should be a lightness itself to someone of your stature..
