After the pile up on the M5 yesterday here's just a reminder that everyone should know their stopping distances and drive accordingly. If someone cuts into the gap you have created to have a safe stopping distance then just slow down and hold back until you have the safe distance back again!
There really is no need to have pile ups like this if everyone kept a safe distance in which to stop in!

A particularly relevant warning. That stretch of the M5 is chevroned and you are supposed to leave 2 chevrons between you and the car in front...

Quite right C3, This is a fact. If 5 cars are following at a distance of 10 metres apart at only 50 miles per hour, if the lead car brakes to a stop, number five will crash into into number four. (I learned that on a police motorcycle course).

A recent trip south, many cars were following at more like 5 metres and 80 miles per hour :eek:
