I sometimes assume things and I am most likely ta be so wrong,
for how can one person such as You or I take upon oneself to just claim
they know something that could really be False.
My assumptions are 98% of the time wrong.

Sounds like good advice to me. I've been told to never assume anything. Broken down into sylables. Don't assume (don't make an azz out of you and me). I believe it to be good advice.

Assumption is part of the pyschological make-up of a human being in information gathering, unfortunately, some of those human-being's thought processes on assumption are slightly flawed due to cultural influences, or in some cases bigotry and ignorance et al.

One should only open ones mouth on an unknown subject to change ones feet...:eek:

Making assumptions and hypothesising is the normal thought-process of the scientific mind. Scientists make up a hypothetical model (a rumour) and they allow their fellow peers (rumour mongers) to test the hypothesis by asking questions and by adding further information. If the 'model' or 'rumour' withstands such scrutiny then it will become consensus and then fact, whether it is right or wrong.
