I love this, well done Lord Cormack

ALEX Salmond has been compared to Robert Mugabe by a Tory peer in exchanges in the House of Lords.Lord Cormack, a former MP and historian, likened Mr Salmond to the Zimbabwean leader who secured independence for his country in 1979 or his white predecessor Ian Smith, who declared unilateral independence for Rhodesia in 1965.
Lord Cormack asked: “Is the First Minister of Scotland seeking to emulate Ian Smith or Robert Mugabe?”
Former Scottish Secretary Lord Forsyth claimed Mr Salmond had privately threatened to sabotage any referendum on independence called by the UK Government,

Who is Lord Cormack? I've never met him down eh harbour or at Alans of Gillock.
It must be nice to be a lord, sitting up there on an Ivory tower. Must really give him a great perspective on life.

While we're on this subject, I'll just leave this blunder by the Scottish Lib Dems here (http://www.betternation.org/2011/10/a-shameful-day-for-the-scottish-lib-dems/) (http://www.betternation.org/2011/10/a-shameful-day-for-the-scottish-lib-dems/)

Don't people realise by now that Scotland doesn't respond to negative campaigns.

haha! RecQuery come on now! Your not daft so I can only say you have chosen to ignore the incredibly negative rhetoric struck by Alex concerning all things Englandshire. Infact, I would go as far as to say his popularity is based on tapping into a deep seated Scottish ignorance and general distrust of England, especially as a nation we LOVE to blame our problems on others.

He is the ultimate negative politician. Take your nationalist hat off and it hits you square in the face.

And I am left wondering why on Earth you haven't left Scotland and gone to live in Englandshire. You certainly seem to love England more than you do Scotland!!
And just who is this fat Lord sitting in judgement, I have never heard of him and as for the Liberal Leader, well he is just being childish and typical LibDem he blames the tweet on his staff

Start heading south and don't come back. If you were really Scottish you would never say such things about Scottish people.

If we are of no benefit to England do you think they would be trying to stop us ditching them? Fact is they get far more from us than we get from them.

hahahahahha! Shut up you eejit! That "scottish people would never say such a thing you unpatirotic moron" attitude is exactly what i despise about this country. Its akin to the right wing idiots in the US who go "THIS IS AMERICA" and expect that you cant then question them about how much they love their country and how that then transpires into you wanting whats best for your country.

I want this country to be above such stupid playground stuff. I want it to be above people that think they way you do beucase that moronic, childish and worst of all lacks any sort of intelligence what so ever. And its not patriotism that pays bill/runs govt/provides services is it??

I suggest you off to north korea and do us all a favour.

Also what do they get more out of us than we do from them? Ill prempt that, Oil = £12bn to Uk exchequer (2.5% of UK tax contributions). City of London = £68bn (14% of UK tax contributions).

What elsedo they get out of us bar less than 3% of theuir tax reveunues?

I'll admit there's a chunk of the Scottish nationalists who are like this, people that are anti-English (beyond friendly insults and banter). Then again every group has its crazies, and the mainstream really doesn't think like this. I don't hate England, I don't dislike English people, I still want to trade with England, possibly have some sort of alliance.

I don't think their popularity is based on that considering the numbers, if it is then it's such a widespread opinion that we'd do better to separate from England before it festers too much. It certainly doesn't justify the ad in that link, this one. I can't see Salmond putting something like that on an official site or any personal sites:

thanks for the scathing attack, your obviously off your head and not worth a sensible conversation.

RecQuery,

I think your then being held hostage to the small narrow mindedness of some then if you dont confront that ignorance instead of of letting it fester, as opposed to seperate from the union are you not? I know most are sensible, but surely you can see the inherint problem with nationalism in that it gets held hostage to bigotry and ignorance of a few (see National Socialism).

Native,

I think your upset I removed the plank you stand on from under you. What else do they get out of us bar less than 3% of their tax revenues? I an intrigued to know. Bear in mind it goes in a pot and then usually end up back here anyway.

And while you are at it can you explain what seperates us from the english bar a line and a fondness for kilts?

weezer 316,

I'm not going to encouraging you, if you go calling people eejits, unpatriotic morons, childish and non-intellectual most folk won't pay any attention to you. That's a fact.

" If you were really Scottish you would never say such things about Scottish people." - your quote

If that's not playing the patriotism card nothing is.

Now, I assume your stumped by my question. And sticking the word "fact" at the end of your sentence doenst make it a fact, and thats a FACT! <------------------joke btw
