Northern Constabulary pay tribute to public for support

NORTHERN Constabulary has announced the results from Friday's Day of Action to combat metal theft and unscrupulous scrap metal dealers in the Highlands and Islands.
Two metal dealers in the Caithness area were reported for allegedly failing to maintain proper records.
And in Fort William a 48-year-old man was arrested and reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the alleged theft of a large quantity of copper found by police officers who stopped a white van at Mount Alexander, Camaghael on Friday at 15.25.7
Police say that officers will continue to target those involved in such illegal activity beyond the scope of last Friday's Day of Action.
Forces across the UK took part in the first ever national Day of Action against those involved in metal theft.
The officer co-ordinating last Friday's Day of Action, Detective Inspector Brian Mackay, said: "We are pleased with the support we receive from the public and would urge people to continue to report any suspicious activity to us.
Anyone who has information about any type of metal related theft is urged to contact Police on 0845 600 5703."
People can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
