New Road

Does anyone know when the next phase of the A9 improvements at Navidale sre due to start? I thought that the second phase was due to start immediately the first stage was completed. The first stage has been completed for ome time but nothing appears to be happening with the second bit. Has the plans been shelved?

i heard they have changed the plans, and are now going to build a 3 lane motorway all the way from Edinburgh to where the A9 ends at the pier at Scrabster. Plans not finalised, so they haven't started yet.!!

According to this (http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Releases/2005/11/28095108) it was given the green light and was due to be started during the summer. I'm not sure what the delay is tho'

I believe a local farmer held it up but i think they have started planning as I saw surveyors on the road and in the field below and there are markings in the field.
The sooner they get rid of the "pink" bits of road the better as there are far too many accidents and it will be worse once winter sets in.

Thanks for the info Fran! Glad to hear the improvements are finally going ahead. I thought that maybe it had been cancelled due to lack of funding.
