Liz - is that overnight accommodation, or longer term?

It will be for about three days Nick.

Thanks for correcting my spelling mistake. I thought it should be two m's. :) I used to pride myself on being good at spelling. :(

I've asked the question of my friends in Clydebank, I'll pass on the answer as soon as I get it.

At the GJ, they are a hotel and if you are travelling down for an appointment/op they have set aside rooms in the hotel free of charge

It's only free of charge for three days and then costs £68 per day!

If you phone the hospitL THEY WOULD TELL YOU WHERE THE NEAREST RED CROSS accomodation is. Its usually in the grounds of the hospital. Most big hospitals have these.

It's for an operation an he will be an inpatient for 7-10 days. So not sure whether his wife can claim expenses?

Fran I'm afraid there isn't Red Cross accommodation. :(

I really do think it's unfair that free accommodation isn't available for longer. Surely they don't expect someone to go through such a traumatic event on their own?

If its a big op, his wife would be given free acomodation but would need a letter from gp or hospital doctor saying that she needs to escort her husband.
