Have often noticed the big Quartz stone* by the public loo in Ardgay on the way through, but on Sunday was down there again and had time to stop and look.. it seems it's more or less round and 4ft 10" x 3ft 6" (more in link) and that it was taken around the parish to be deposited where the fair would take place..
Well any scientist (or other clever person) can work out the volume and then the weight, be interesting to think how they lugged a blinking great thing like that around in those far past times?:eek:
