Last season's top two teams went to battle on Monday night in a 4-hour marathon match. Camps2 traveled out to Lybster to face Bayview1 in what is always a close match-up. After the singles frames, neither team could be separated as it stood at 3-3. The next frame saw James Riach complete a total clearance to put the Camps side 4-3 ahead, but the battling Bayview team took the next two frames to go within one frame of victory. Ryan Carter, Bruce Honeyman and James Riach combined well in the trebles as Carter completed a 6-ball clearance to level the match at 5-5. After a long tactical deciding frame, it was Alec Thomson who showed great composure to clinch the match for Camps2.
Blackstairs1 got back to winning ways after battling to a 6-5 win over Camps1. George Smith had a fine match, completing a total clearance and leaving his opponent with 7 balls, but it wasnt enough to deny the Blackstairs side the win.
Crown1 and Blackstairs2 remain undefeated as they brushed past Queens and Seaforth Club respectively. James Dow notched up a fantastic total clearance for the Queens side.
The other match in division one saw The Commercial comfortably defeat FSC1 7-4.
Mountain Dew1 came from behind to defeat FSC2 6-5 in an exciting match in division two. Sinclair Bay remain top after crushing Crown2 10-1. Sasa's Cellar Bar have now won 3 out 3 matches after beating Bayview2 7-4.
The last 16 of The Rockwater Shield will begin next Monday, with The Blackstairs derby most definately the tie of the round.
