It was two out of three for The Caithness teams this weekend as Wick Academy lost 3-1 at Harmsworth Park to Duncan Shearer's Buckie Thistle despite taking the lead through a brilliant Martin Gunn strike.

Both teams won in The North Caley set up. Halkirk United progressed to the Semi-Finals of The PCT North Caledonian Cup with a 6-2 win, after extra time at Recreation Park, Halkirk to Dornoch. They now face a tough home tie against Balintore.

In an MSIS North Caledonian League fixture Thurso closed the gap on league leaders Alness United to four points with 2 games in hand by beating Bunillidh Thistle 7-2 at Couper Park in Helmsdale with goals from Alan Murray (3), taking his season's total to 21, Mark Nichol (2), taking his season's total to a massive 31 and a double from Jamie MacKenzie.

Scores from this afternoon's games.

In The Highland League Wick Academy lost 2-1 at home to Fraserburgh, who now climb to the top of the Scotads Highland League table. Wick's goal was scored by Martin Gunn.

In The MSIS North Caledonian League both Caithness teams were again victorious with Thurso winning 2-0 away at Balintore thanks to goals from Jamie MacKenzie and Mark Nicholl, climbing above reigning champions Golspie into second place.

At Recreation Park, Halkirk United also climbed the table, to fourth with a 3-0 home win against Bunillidh Thistle.

Next weekend sees The first Derby of the season as Thurso take on Halkirk United at The Dammies with a 1.30 p.m kick-off. Wick don't have a fixture next weekend.
