Be sure to use a secure method of payment
NORTHERN Constabulary would like to remind the public who may be purchasing items from the internet or Facebook group pages to use a secure, recognised method of payment.
Methods such as Sagepay or Paypal are recognised secure ways of paying for items. There have been incidents reported in Fort William Police recently where electronic items have been offered for sale at a 'knock down price' with the seller requesting payment directly into a bank account.
Once payments were received the items were never sent out.
Anyone with knowledge of these incidents is asked to contact Fort William Police Station on 01397 702361 or the confidential line on 01397 702000.
If you have any information about this crime you can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
