Please read this news articles from the BBC and let me know what you think has happened. (they are in correct date order.)

The amount of damage reported is contradictory in the items

I can't actually visualise exactly what has happened. Seems pretty worrying whatever the truth is.

I am interested in any views, opinions, theories, convoluted stories or even a hijacking of the thread etc

Yes it landed, without the wheels down but promptly took off again. Arrived back in Aberdeen with "substantial" damage to one of the propellers and the luggage pod.

So, from what you say, I assume it "scuffed" the runway in "landing" without the wheels down, realised what was going on.....aborted the landing and proceeded to Aberdeen. Is that a near miss or what?? How come the propellor didn't disintegrate on striking the ground?

The report will eventually appear on the AAIB site.

Usually the facts are clearly stated.Be prepared for a wait though, these investigations usually take some months.

Fortunately, metal is bendy! Carbon fibre blades, as used on many newer helicopter rotors, shatters.

My guess is that had they continued trying to land rather than taking off again, they would have done the plane quite a lot of damage but not the passengers. Would have been a scary experience nonetheless.
