I mean that someone appears to be slandering you and possibly libelling you too.

If this is the case then I can well understand why the mods would be very cautious about airing something which could end up in court.

This being so, were I in your situation I would seek legal advice.

Yes I do understand.

But if you put stuff in print which the other person may object to- and may challenge, then it could be interpreted as libel.

UK libel law is not very clear, and libel suits cost an awful lot. I try not to post on things I know nothing of, but on this occasion I advise you to be cautious about putting things in print.

Imho the mods have done you a favour.

It's probably a matter best seen to privately.
