Not sure if this was a wind up or not but was told that if you answer the phone from a call centre and "nigel" is on the other end and you cant understand their accent, and you reply " Thank you, but I'd like to speak to a customer service representative in the United Kingdom, please", they have to transfer yor call. Its the law. Anyone heard this one before?

I've heard similar, usually when I speak to people here in deepest, darkest Hampshire. They ask me to speak English, I tell them to listen in Scottish, it confuses the natives and gives me a wee glow. :)

I know this from when I used to work at BT.

There is no law with regard to that it is just about weather that company wants to provide you with good service or not
