ive also had a few emails like these,a couple were supposed to be from ebay asking for my password and asking for my card details, also had one from a supposed bank that ive never heard of,if you get emails like this the best thing to do is contact the proper companys that have supposed to have sent this ,they should be able to tell you if these are scams or not.

Generally if you don't recognise the company or have nothing to do with them, or if they ask for inappropriate information such as pins, passwords, security numbers from the back of cards etc then best to ignore it. No legitimate company will ever ask for this kind of information.

I myself got a text message yesterday claiming that I had some kind of call credit points unused from 2003 and to call a certain number within the month or the time would have elapsed. It confused me for a moment considering the phone is on contract and only since Feb 2004. Complete waste of time for whoever sent it, and who on earth in their right mind thinks of these things. They really do take us all for mugs. [disgust]

If the email says it is coming from a company asking you to clarify the details that you are already supposed to have given them then it is quite simply Bull-, Bull-, Rubbish!

If a genuine company had "lost" your details all they would do is get you to re-register.
They would not send you an email in any case, even if they had completely lost their system. The first you would know about it was when you tried to use there system and you got the "Who the Hell are You? Start Again!" message.

If a company needed to check a handfull of people then they wouldn't bother.
If they were checking on most of their customers just think how many emails they would get back, they would get millions and it would take them forever to go through them. It would cause them more trouble than it would solve

The only thing I would do is inform the genuine company that somebody is using them to run a scam so they can take action to stop it.

I suppose if everybody replied with a set of complete rubbish by way of information, numbers and passwords it might just clog their system up whilst they try them!

Little warning about replying to these people, even with rubbish. If you do this then you're confirming your email address is live and you could open the door to all sorts of spam. Think I'm right about this. I know you're never supposed to reply to spam in any way as that gives them what they want and opens your door to endless porn etc.

Ebay users look out,

I got an email this week from 'eBay'. Looked exactly like real emails from ebay look like with copyright and etrust etc at the bottom. It asked me to click on a link and reactivate my account.
One thing wrong though. It did not have my ebay user name, just "Dear user".
Almost fooled me. ;)
