if you feed him immediatly.. he will quite down to eat then start yeowling again.. and im not talking meow.. but loud!!
and will not shut up til you let him back out.
he is not wanting to come in at night or even during the day except to eat and then out again!

Check with your neighbours to see if he is commuting many cats have more than one home.
Are you using any strong smelling household cleaners, air fresheners or the like? My cat hates them and will not come into the house until the smell has cleared and as for his flea/mite treatment! Say goodbye for 48 hrs after.
Might be worth getting his ears checked too, my old fella has gone almost deaf and as his hearing has decreased his yowls have got louder.

no he never strays far.. as he is shy of other people.. he has just recently went to my neighbors..for a clap.
as far as i can tell he can hear fine as if you mention the word food.. hes in like a shot.
we dont use any strong smelly cleaners.. as my children have very sensitive skin.. and break out very easily, with their excema
he will come in its just that as soon as he does he wants out again.
its just worrisome as with the weather getting colder, that he wont come in at night.
have told my neighbors if they can get him in at night then let him come in!
as long as hes in i dont really care!
i think my luck with my cats are def. going downhill! *laughs*

Does he have a litter tray? - maybe he's got pee or poo problems?!

My cat used to be the same, meowing to get out as soon as he came in the house. I kept an eye on him and noticed he wasn't going to the toiled but just peeing out small amounts of blood. I took him to the vet and he was needing antibiotics, it was like he had cystitis. It might be worth watching him to see if maybe it's something similar. Good luck. :)

Not being funny but does he have worms. I had an old tom who had worms and that's just the way he behaved:D

I have 2 cats , One Tom never moves too far, loves the house and all the comforts that come with a garfield lifestyle. The other is female and is best described as a mouser. She is exactly like your tom. From the moment she comes in she whines for food and attention, mostly leaving immediately after a feed. Occassionally she will spend the night or come in during the night to present us with a furry mammal present.
In my experence with cats no 2 are the same, some are domesticated and others are born to hunt and be free. I dont ever see you changing that, any change will come from the cat.
What is probably most significant is where he came from and was he from feral parents?

Cats are meant to go outside, Our cat does the same, comes in and makes lots of noise until we feed her then she wants outside straight away. It is only in the real stormy weather that she doesnt want to go out but that is rare. The fact that we have a 11 month girl old that has a good interest in trying to catch her maybe helps persuade the cat that out side is more peacefull for her.

Hi Brandy

Sorry to hear that your cat will not come inside.

I am sure your kiddies are lovely but I am afraid it may be that your cat doesn't think so? Especially since I know you got them from a farm where they will not have been socialised.

I had a cat who went missing for a week when I was looiking after some kittens.
He came back in the early hours of the morning on the day the kittens went back to their original owner!!! Goodness knows how he knew they had gone! Obviously he took exception to them being there!!!

I know that your cats have been going into a neighbours who don't have any children so maybe he likes the peace and quiet?

Sorry!:(

We found two kittens under a car on a freezing October night 14 years ago. We were actually out looking for our own cat, who had gone missing, and we heard meows coming from under the car. We tried to get them to come out but they kept going to the opposite side of the car when we got near. The lady across the road found them in her garden in the morning and was very worried about them surviving so we decided to take them in. Ironically, a few weeks later our own cat came back and we then had three!!

One of the kittens was male and one female. Right from day one the male kitten never took to indoor life, he would sometimes sleep for a little while in the house but always wanted out. He never stayed indoors at night all the time we had him. He disappeared for a few weeks before returning one day and shortly afterwards he vanished again and we never found him. We had him dressed, so that was not the reason for his wandering, he just seemed a cat who preferred life outdoors. The female cat was different, she took to the house much better but was very wary of the kids when they were young. She would run away when they came running. As time went on she started to get more adventureous. Going upstairs was something she had never done but she started to go up and even climb onto the beds, although running away when anyone came into the room. As the kids got older she started to tolerate them better and nowadays she will sleep on their lap, bed, (top bunk no less) sofa, carpet etc

Throughout the years Daisy has always been an outdoor cat during the Summer, only coming in for food and a quick greeting. In the Winter it was different and the couch became the bed during the colder weather. Now that she is 14 there is less outdoor activity, even during the summer and it is a question of which one of several "pits" she will be found stretched out in. It has taken a lot of time and patience to give our cat the confidence to be the way she is now. A very loving animal towards people but she can't stand other cats!! Very vocal and loud with it, the 5am toilet call can bring a tear to the eye on a frosty night!!

Good luck with your cat!!

its just something he started doing in teh past couple months..
always before he would have to be tossed out
we are getting ready to worm him and see if that helps.. the kids never bother him
as they have been around cats their whole lives
he wont go into other peoples houses as he is quite shy of strangers..
