A bloomin’ good show, Wick!

THEY’VE done it again!...and Wick couldn’t be more delighted, winning a silver award for their floral displays for the second successive year, in the annual Scotland in Bloom competition.
And that wasn’t all... The Floral Baskets Committee landed another, coveted, award, for the town which made the greatest effort in promoting tourism.
Unfortunately, bad weather prevented committee chairwoman, Joanna Coghill and a good few other people making the trip over to Bute for the prize-giving, today, as bad weather cancelled the ferry.
Mrs Coghill was advised not to make the trip south, but any disappointment at not being present for the ceremony, was quickly dispelled when she checked up on the outcome by phone and learned those super results.
She said: “The silver award is testimony to the fact that our committee and the many other people who help us, are going in the right direction and maintaining our standard and the tourism award is the jam on top of the icing on the cake. It is an official recognition of everyone who is making a determined effort to make our town an attractive place to visit. It’s only the second year that the award has been made and it says plenty about Wick. St Andrews won it last year, the first time it was awarded so, to win it second time around, is quite an achievement."
