Daily Mail prints correction over cost of green 'stealth' taxes

The DM has been rapped by the Press Complaints Commission over reporting unsubstantiated claims from third parties who may have a biased views on certain issues, on this occasion it was Nigel Lawson's Global warming denial think tank. The orininal claim was that green stealth taxes contributed to 15-20% of fuel bills but the true amount is 9%. This is seen as a landmark correction in so much that newspapers can no longer hide behind the 'we were only reporting what they said' defense, they now become liable for the content as well.

9% is still way too high and way above the rate of inflation. It's a scandal that in this day and age there are vulnerable people who have to choose either to have a meal or heat their home. How can any grubbiement in the 21st century allow this to happen?
