Also on a side note, FOI requests need to be tightened to stop them using the 'too expensive' excuse when it's clearly not.

This is an absolute shambles!!

Why they persist with spending a fortune on Windows is probably the biggest mystery. Munich Local govt moved to Linux several years ago, apparently alongside a personal visit from Steve Ballmer no less to try and convince them to stick with MS and offered licenses at next to no cost!

They could hire a couple of engineers and custom build a distro to suit exactly what they need if they so wanted.

Aside from pulling in Enterprise level databases and the support they require from the likes of Oracle, I cant see any reason to not go open source!

My good god , they even use mcafee, are they totally stupid, imagine paying money for that garbage, now i know government departments are a waste of space.

Don't expect any level of government in any country to tell you the amount of money they waste. Politicians don't want that to be known.
